The Graz-based Schallfeld Ensemble was founded in 2013 by former Klangforum Wien students as an international collective of soloists and within a short period of time it has made a name for itself beyond the borders of Austria. The ensemble stands out for its carefully elaborated and subtle interpretations. It encourages close collaboration with a number of composers and especially cultivates a repertoire that uses electronic instruments and live electronics. For its Tyrolean debut, the Schallfeld Ensemble has for the most part curated its own program and will be presenting three female and two male composers it admires and respects. The works by Iranian Anahita Abbasi who lives in Graz and the USA and Bremen-based Kazakh Jamilia Jazylbekova will be performed as purely acoustic compositions, whereas the pieces by the Italian composer and sound artist Agostino Di Scipio, Chinese composer Ying Wang (she lives in Berlin), and Lorenzo Romano, born in Italy, lives in Graz, all contain live electronic components. Anahita Abbasi and Lorenzo Romano are members of the Schallfeld Ensemble.
